Sarajevo, April 28, 2022 – At today’s session, the Central Election Commission of BiH adopted the Decision on the announcement and holding of the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2022. The elections will be held on Sunday, October 2 of this year.

Direct elections have been announced for:

  • Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
  • House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
  • House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
  • The National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska,
  • President and Vice President of the Republic of Srpska i
  • Cantonal Assemblies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

6 out of 7 members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina voted in favor of the Decision on the Call and Holding of General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2022. Dr. Ahmet Šantić voted for the aforementioned decision by correspondence (telephone), which is in accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is planned that the upcoming elections will cost about 11,728,000.00 KM. According to the provisions of Article 1.2a of the BiH Election Law, the competent institutions must secure funds for the implementation of the elections within 15 days from the date of the announcement of the elections, ie by May 19.

The Central Election Commission of BiH adopted the Decision on the Closing of the Central Voters’ Register, and as of 3.5.2022. at 24:00, according to which 3,371,487 voters were registered in the Central Voters’ Register.

Today, the Central Election Commission of BiH adopted the Instructions on the deadlines and sequence of electoral activities for the 2022 General Elections, which will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022. The aforementioned Instructions, as well as all acts relevant for the holding of the 2022 General Elections, will be published on the website of the Central Election Commission of BiH under the link “General Elections 2022”.

The “e-Elections” application and the electronic method of registering voters for voting outside BiH, which will be active from today, were presented to the public. A video clip was published on the YouTube channel and the website of the Central Election Commission of BiH with clear instructions for using the application. There is also a user manual on the “e-Elections” portal itself. The “e-Elections” web application was developed with the support of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
