For the first time in our history, classes are held online. Since the beginning of June, all classes have been held exclusively online. Our brave teachers decided on the option where they will hold classes via video. At the same time, the students used the opportunity to see each other and at least spend time with their friends in this way.
The last class was also held. For homework, the students were given a symbolic drawing of the flower of Srebrenica. The flower of Srebrenica or the flower “Remembrance” is an unofficial symbol of the genocide in Srebrenica that occurred during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995. The flower was designed by women from the association “Gračaničko keranje” from Gračanica, and was presented to the public for the first time on July 1, 2011. The white color of the flower petals represents the innocence of the victims, while the green color in the center of the flower represents hope, and the 11 petals symbolize July 11, 1995.
With their hands, the children drew the flower of Srebrenica and said “Remember, remember, and never let Srebrenica happen again to anyone”. Although a small procedure, the students showed by drawing a flower that it is also a form of struggle against genocide and mass suffering of people.
The theme for this year’s commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide is ” Every action matters.” The goal of this theme is to motivate people to show that their actions, no matter how big or small, can stand up to hatred, prejudice, and genocide denial.
On this occasion, we would like to thank the teachers Azra Bašić, Eldina Bolić and Alma Aganović and the teacher Emir Bolić for all their efforts so that the children learn and achieve something. Also, thanks to the parents who regularly brought their children to school and supported the work of the teachers.
We are proud of all the children of Bosnia and Herzegovina. secondary school Birmingham.
