Bosnian and Herzegovina Supplementary School Manchester at the MACFEST festival

Image 13 01 20 05 26 2 300x176Bosnian-Herzegovinian Supplementary School Manchester had the opportunity to participate and present itself for the second year in a row at the MACFEST Festival, which took place in Manchester on January 12. MACFEST is an abbreviation for Muslim Arts and Culture Festival.

Organization – MACFEST is a festival that gathers over 50 countries with the aim of presenting their culture and traditions in institutions such as libraries, colleges, schools and various religious institutions. Presentations were given by famous actors, politicians, artists, poets, historians and many other distinguished people, generally all about Muslim culture and art.

The goal of this festival is to bring together different cultures and communities.

The founder, curator and executive director of MACFEST/a is Qaisra Shahraz. Qaisra has won many prestigious awards on several occasions, is a renowned novelist, screenwriter, peace and gender activist. She was born in Pakistan, and has lived in Manchester since childhood. For many years she has been committed to promoting communities and social cohesion through her roles.

Our school managed to amaze everyone present through presentations, recitations and hymns. The children, proudly wearing traditional costumes, managed to show a piece of the culture and spirit of Bosniak culture,” said Sadija Muminović, coordinator of the Bosnian supplementary school in Manchester.
