The World Association of the Diaspora of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms that this year’s 17th consecutive World Championship of the Diaspora of Bosnia and Herzegovina in indoor football/soccer – futsal will be held in Switzerland, in the city of St. Gallen, from April 17 to 19, 2020, in the Sporthalle Guttingersreuti (Weinfelden).
The host of the biggest sporting event in the BiH diaspora is FC Sarajevo 92, from St. Gallen, and BiH activists in this city and Switzerland, led by Denis Omerbegović, a former successful football player and now a businessman and coach.
– It is a great honor for us to be the hosts of the next BiH Diaspora World Cup in indoor football/soccer, in which I myself participated as a player for several years, with teams from Switzerland and Germany. This is a special event for all of us in the diaspora. We will do our best to be good hosts to the teams of our citizens from Europe and the world. In addition to the competitive part, it will also be a good opportunity for new socializing, getting to know each other and presenting the activities of BiH citizens living in Switzerland. I invite all successful Bosnians and Herzegovinians in Switzerland to contact us, join us and help with the organization, in order to welcome all the teams in the best way and be good hosts of the championship – says Denis Omerbegović.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina Diaspora World Championship in Futsal/Football – Futsal was held last year (2019) in Oslo, Norway. The winners of last year’s championship were the players of the Bosnian diaspora national team from Austria. They defeated the team from Belgium in the final match. Third place was taken by the football players of the team representing citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Federal Republic of Germany. In the fight for third place and bronze medals, Germany was better than the team from Turkey.
