Dr Anes Cerić, Executive Director of Bosnia UK Network and Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Midlands region, today visited potential locations in Cannon Hill Park together with Eddie Curry, Head of Parks & Greenspaces at Birmingham City Council, for the construction of a memorial monument dedicated to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.
Cannon Hill Park is one of the largest and most visited parks in Birmingham, welcoming more than one million visitors each year, making this location especially significant as a permanent place of remembrance and education for future generations.
Discussions will continue in the coming days, and we hope this important project will receive the necessary support and move towards implementation.
The construction of a memorial monument would serve as a lasting reminder of the importance of remembrance, truth, and honouring the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.
