dr. Anes Ceric appointed honorary consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina
It gives me great pleasure to inform the Bosnian and Herzegovinian community in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland that His Majesty’s Government, by letter dated 20 November 2024, has given its consent to the establishment of an Honorary Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Midlands, with its seat in Birmingham.
The candidacy and proposal of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina were accepted, and Dr. Anes Cerić was appointed to this important position – Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Midlands.
This appointment, one of the first initiated by Bosnia and Herzegovina in the United Kingdom, opens a new chapter in bilateral relations between our countries. This is not only an opportunity to strengthen political and economic ties at the national level, but also to develop and expand a network of cooperation at the local level, through direct interaction with local communities, institutions and business entities. The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in London is committed to strengthening existing and creating new opportunities for connections, joint projects and economic activities through this network. I personally, and the staff of the Embassy of BiH in London, are proud to be participants and actors in a time that opens up a number of new possibilities for cooperation. Dr. Anes Cerić takes up the position of Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina at an important time for our community in the United Kingdom. The appointment recognises and rewards his long-standing contribution to strengthening the Bosnian and Herzegovinian diaspora. As an experienced community leader and a recognised contributor to the BH UK Network, Dr. Anes Cerić has demonstrated his commitment to advancing cultural, social and economic ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UK.
I am confident that Dr. Anes Cerić will continue to promote Bosnia and Herzegovina in the best possible light with his work. His experience, connections with local communities in Birmingham, and involvement in projects such as the construction and opening of the “Bosnian House” serve as an example of how commitment and vision can enhance cultural, social and economic ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom, and beyond. The role of Honorary Consul entails a commitment to working for the benefit of the community and promoting Bosnia and Herzegovina on a global level. I am confident that Dr. Cerić, through his vision and rich experience, will continue to work on promoting a positive image of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This appointment is another step towards strengthening relations between our country and the diaspora, as well as the affirmation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the UK and internationally.
