A new school year has begun at the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Supplementary School, located within the Bosnian House in Birmingham. The school has been operating continuously for **32 years**, bringing together generations of children while nurturing the Bosnian language, culture, and traditions, as well as maintaining a strong connection to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This long-standing success is made possible by the association that founded the school and has sustained its operations all these years, as well as by the dedication of numerous volunteers, activists, teachers, and parents. We owe a special debt of gratitude to the children from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and surrounding towns who attend with a genuine desire to learn the Bosnian language and discover their parents’ homeland.
**Over the course of more than three decades, hundreds of children have learned the Bosnian language at our school**, forged lasting friendships, and preserved a connection to their roots. We are incredibly proud of this. It is especially important to us that new generations are able to speak with their families in their native tongue, understand their heritage, and feel a sense of belonging to Bosnia and Herzegovina as they grow up and build their futures in the United Kingdom.
Classes are held in the renovated premises of the Bosnian House, which provide a welcoming environment for learning, socializing, and developing children’s talents. This year’s program includes Bosnian language instruction, activities for the youngest children, the work of the “Fahira Hasedžić” Cultural and Artistic Society, religious education, and a variety of other educational and creative activities. In addition to classes, we organize cultural, sports, and recreational activities every weekend, ensuring that the Bosnian House remains a place children are happy to visit—a space where they can explore their interests through play and social interaction.
Classes and activities take place every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Bosnian House in Birmingham. Our doors are open to new students; we invite parents and children to reach out and join us.
We would be especially pleased if the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina were to recognize this long-standing effort and provide concrete support to enhance our educational program. Such assistance would mean a great deal to our children and to everyone who invests their time, knowledge, and love into preserving the Bosnian language and identity in the United Kingdom.
Thank you to everyone who is part of this journey and who helps us ensure it continues for future generations.
We look forward to welcoming you!
