A meeting of the Remembering Srebrenica West Midlands Committee was held at the Bosnian House in Birmingham. Activities surrounding this year’s commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide were analyzed. It was positively assessed that more than one thousand one hundred different events were held in the United Kingdom, making the United Kingdom a world leader in this regard. 
In 2019, more than 1,100 events were held in the UK, with large numbers of people attending. In addition to the commemorations, the Srebrenica Remembrance organisation works in schools across the country, reaching over 95,000 children through educational packages on the lessons learned from the Srebrenica genocide and other educational activities. These numerous gatherings were attended by various figures from the worlds of politics, sports and the arts, each with one task: to raise awareness, educate and build a future of peace, respect and tolerance among all people, regardless of their origin, nationality, religion, gender or social status.
The organization of the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide was also discussed. Plans are for next year to organize an even larger number of activities than last year, and the central commemoration for the West Midlands region will be held in Birmingham on July 8, with a location to be decided later.
Once again, we call on citizens in the United Kingdom to join the regional committees of Remembering Srebrenica and thus actively help and contribute to the improvement and implementation of planned activities.
