This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. The culture of remembrance is an important aspect of our identity, and we therefore invite you to participate in the Peace March that will be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina in July to raise funds in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide. It is extremely important to remember the victims through such events, especially in this time of genocide denial, when the number of victims is decreasing.
The three-day walk from Tuzla to Potočari is held every year in memory of the brave men of the Death March. At midnight on July 11, 1995, over 10,000 Bosnian Muslims set out from Srebrenica, aiming to gather on Buljim Hill for the long walk towards the free territory of Tuzla. As they gathered in a column on the hill, Serb military forces opened heavy fire. Unarmed and without cover, the rear of the column disintegrated as the victims ran into the woods for cover. Many were killed on the spot, while hundreds more were rounded up and executed.
