As part of the celebration of the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the promotion of the book “We, the Children of Sarajevo” by Mensura Burridge was held at the Bosanska House in Birmingham.
The promotion was organised by the Honorary Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Birmingham, in cooperation with Bosnia UK Network and BH Association Birmingham.
The book “We, the children of Sarajevo” provides a powerful and poignant testimony about childhood during the siege of Sarajevo – about the life of children who grew up in the most difficult circumstances of war, but despite everything, they preserved hope, dignity and faith in life. Through personal stories and memories, the book reminds us of the power of children’s courage and the importance of preserving collective memory.
The author Mensura Burridge spoke about the creation of the book, the inspiration for its creation and the importance of preserving the experiences of children from wartime Sarajevo and passing them on to new generations.
During her visit to Birmingham, the author also visited the Honorary Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnian House, where she learned about the numerous activities carried out to preserve the language, culture and identity of the Bosnian community in the United Kingdom.
This event was another opportunity to mark the Independence Day of our homeland through culture, books and memory and further strengthen the ties of the Bosnian community in Great Britain.
