City council Durham and University Durham marked are the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica by raising flags

The flag flew at City Hall throughout the week, as well as on many university buildings.
Numerous events were held in several cities in Great Britain this week to mark the 27th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.
One of the events was held at Newcastle Cathedral , before a memorial service was held outside Newcastle city centre on 10 July.
Also took place Commemoration on the evening of July 11th in the city of Sunderland.

An exhibition with information about what happened in Srebrenica and the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including stories from survivors, is on display at Durham Library throughout the week.
Coun Alan Shield, cabinet member for equality and inclusion at Durham City Council, said that some still deny the genocide in Srebrenica even though 27 years have passed.
“The failure to confront the past has led to even more pain and suffering for the survivors of genocide, who have already experienced the worst of humanity. It is therefore imperative that we never forget the horrors of 1995 and continue to work together to reaffirm our commitment to the fight against prejudice and discrimination,” Shield said on the occasion. commemoration of the 27th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica.
Also, on July 8, a commemoration was held in front of the City Hall in the city of Portsmouth for all those who were killed in the 1995 Srebrenica genocide.
As announced by Portsmouth City Council, the flags of Bosnia and Herzegovina were raised during the commemoration in Guildhall Square.

Dr. Waqar Azmi, Chairman of the organization “Remembering Srebrenica”, said that he was proud that numerous activities were being held in the United Kingdom to mark the 27th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.
