The work of BiH supplementary schools is unimaginable without hard-working teachers who have been volunteering for years to maintain the continuity of the work and activities of BiH supplementary schools. For years, tried to professionally and cordially present their love for the homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Great Britain, there are currently six BH supplementary schools (Derby, Birmingham, Hertfordshire, Victoria London, Coventry and Manchester). Over the years, it has not been easy to preserve the schools.
We are very pleased when British organizations recognize the quality and importance of our teachers’ work. Last week, the British Council awarded the Community language teacher award. To Senadin Selimić , a teacher who has been teaching students at Coventry secondary school for 25 years.
“Of course I am happy about the award and I think it is an award for all of us, especially our children. I sincerely hope that our future will be better than the past. It is encouraging that we are still here after so many years and that we have successors. The Bosnian supplementary school in Coventry has existed for 25 years and maybe a little more. The children of my first students are our students today and that is a measure of continuity and quality.
This award is the result of hard work, all with the aim of preserving our language and culture. I prefer it even more because it was suggested by my colleagues and students, so it also has a sentimental dimension.
I am grateful to our BH Association Coventry for their support, trust, and excellent partnership.
Trust is the key to success and that is what is crucial in this story about a teacher who, after 25 years, received recognition for his work,” said teacher Selimić.

The President of the BiH Association Coventry, Almin Kazić, congratulated Senadin on the award: “We are pleased that the work of our teachers, who have been trying to educate generations of BiH children in the UK for years, has been recognized. We congratulate Senadin and wish him much success in his future work.”

On the day of the ceremony, Selimić had the opportunity to meet the MP Zarah Sultana, an inspiring politician fighting for equality. I’m sure we’ll hear a lot more from this young lady.
BH supplementary schools in the UK promote our history, culture and national identity both through regular classes and through organizing celebrations of the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Srebrenica commemorations, School Gatherings in the UK, etc. However, it is the young generations who have enormous potential and are important in preserving the continuity of our supplementary schools. They have all shown that through tireless work they can prove that their roots are important to them, and that the young generations get to know where they come from. and not to forget their ancestors. It is also worth mentioning the fact that the students are children born in Great Britain. But their desire and effort, as well as that of their parents and teachers, to learn about Bosnia and Herzegovina is great.
BH UK Network joins in the congratulations and we are proud of our little ambassadors, teachers, parents, BiH supplementary schools and BiH associations in the UK.
