Bridging the divide – An evening of poetry and prose from Bosnia and Herzegovina

An evening of poetry and prose was held at the British Muslim Heritage Centre in Manchester on 3 July, organised by The Manchester Muslim Writers . The event is one of many as part of the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial Week. Elinor Chohan, on behalf of Remembering Srebrenica , addressed the audience.

This was followed by an inspiring performance by poets and writers from Manchester. They not only presented their works, but also shared with the others their experiences of visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina and the beautiful impressions they bring back from our country.

With their arrival, guests from Birmingham, Bosnian actor and author of the book “The Boy Who Said Nothing” Mirsad Solaković and Mersad Krnjić, imam from Birmingham, magnified this event. As part of the program, the supplementary school from Bosnia and Herzegovina also took part and made the evening of poetry more beautiful.

The event was attended by a large number of people of all generations. All visitors enjoyed a wonderful evening and had the opportunity to learn more about the genocide and the current situation in our Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to great interest, they asked actor Mirsad Solaković to visit Manchester again after the holidays.

At the end, our valuable Imam Mersad Krnjić recited a prayer for all the martyrs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and others with those present. The evening was filled with emotions.
