Our children – our greatest driving force

Students at Bosnian and Herzegovinian supplementary schools are not just students, they are children with two identities; Bosnian and British. They are the second generation of Bosnians and Herzegovinians born on the Island to parents who, due to a combination of circumstances during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s, came to Great Britain in search of salvation and a better life.

As part of BH supplementary classes, they learn how to preserve their mother tongue and the culture of their ancestors. The souls of our children are strange. They are so fragile, yet so strong. They cry over a little thing, but they are strong enough to withstand all the troubles that befall them. With that spirit and strength, they appeared and proved it on the Day of Schools in Derby. From a young age, they learn to be responsible individuals, masters of their future and exemplary citizens of the world.

On School Day, our children are slowly discovering their talents in painting, literature, music and sports. On this day, many people showed their creativity, but on this occasion we will single out Amila Dergić, Dženita Salkić, Melina Saračević Hujić and Ćazim Bolić.

Ćazim Bolić won the trophy for the most talented football player. He is 7 years old, and one of the youngest players in the football team “Glades” in which he plays. He is known for his smile. His coach Glades often says that he confuses his players with his smile. He loves playing football the most, and at school he loves math. Those who know him describe him as a wonderful boy who only causes positive vibrations. We have no doubt that one day he will play in bigger football matches, and that he will be known as a football player with a charming smile.
