This year, a festive program was held in Birmingham, organized by the Bosnia UK Network and its members, the BiH associations Coventry and Birmingham , to mark the Statehood Day of BiH.
This year’s event marking the Statehood Day began with the singing of the national anthems of Bosnia and Great Britain, and afterwards, those present had the opportunity to watch a short video by Josip Pejaković “How painful it is to have no Bosnia!” On behalf of the host, Kornelija Besara addressed the audience with warm words of welcome and announced the addresses of the President of the Bosnia UK Network, Zaim Pašić , and HE the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in London, Vanja Filipović .
Delegates of the BiH Advisory Center (London), Fejzi Jahaj and Zaim Pašić, presented a painting by the BiH artist Ivan Mot, the motif of the Bliha waterfall, to Bosnia UK Network on the occasion of the anniversary of the opening of the Bosnian House in Birmingham.
“It is a great honor and pleasure to attend an event such as the celebration of Statehood Day organized by the Bosnia UK Network. It is not only an opportunity to meet and socialize with our people who have settled in the United Kingdom,
Everyone was reminded that the adopted ZAVNOBiH Resolution expressed the determination of the people of BiH to have their country be a twinned community in which full equality of all peoples would be ensured, as well as the equality of the Republic of BiH within the Yugoslav federation, with historical borders dating back to the time of medieval Bosnia.
In the packed hall of the Tysley Center in Birmingham, more than seventy BiH students presented themselves to the audience with recitations, songs and dance. secondary schools in Birmingham and Coventry, accompanied by their six teachers; Senadin Selimić, Arnela Pašić, Azra Bašić, Emir Bolić, Eldina Bolić and Alma Aganović. The hall where the Statehood Day was celebrated was filled with warmth, tradition, dance, song and the colors of our wonderful Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our youngest kept the audience’s attention in a creative way and magnified the celebration of the statehood day of their home country. The students of BiH supplementary school Coventry presented themselves in a very creative and sympathetic way by performing the play “Bosnia through history”, while the students of BiH supplementary school Birmingham pleasantly surprised the audience with a rich program from recitation to song.
The event ended with the performance of the folklore group “Mladost Bosne” from Birmingham, which once again delighted everyone present. Dressed in national costumes, they embellished the program on several occasions with a mix of games, under the watchful eye of choreographer Fahira Hasedžić , and the large audience selflessly rewarded them with applause.
Our hardworking hostesses made every effort to keep the good mood going, once again exceeding all expectations by offering all the dishes that belong to the climate of our dear homeland. For the musical part of the event, credit goes to our already well-known Sefer Haskić . The delegates of the Bosnia UK Network took the opportunity to present an award to our musician for his twenty-five-year contribution to the preservation of Bosnian/Herzegovinian cultural heritage in the United Kingdom. Socializing continued late into the night, with friends, family, and acquaintances.
We want to thank our lovely ladies from Birmingham for the wonderfully prepared food they prepared for all our lovely guests. Everything was very tasty and praiseworthy. All guests, including our ambassador, and guests from London, Coventry and Derby were simply delighted.
Dear friends, dear Bosnians and Herzegovinans,
Happy Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina ….
