Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Vojin Mitrović and the Ambassador of Great Britain to BiH Matthew Field signed the Agreement between the Government of Great Britain and the Council of Ministers on International Road Transport.
Mitrović thanked the British Government and Embassy for successfully concluding negotiations on the drafting of this agreement, in order to regulate and develop international road transport of passengers and cargo, to mutual satisfaction.
He said that in 2019, mutual foreign trade amounted to 159 million KM, while in the first 10 months of this year, trade worth 149 million KM was achieved and that it is expected to exceed last year’s amount.
“All of this forces us to have better bilateral agreements that support the further improvement of overall bilateral relations, because the basis for the development of every country is the improvement of the economy and economic exchange with foreign partners,” Mitrović emphasized.
He added that the signed agreement regulates bilateral issues regarding the transport of passengers and cargo, as well as the rights and obligations of carriers registered in one country while they are on the territory of another country and performing international transport.
Mitrović said that activities are underway to harmonize the text of the air traffic agreement between the two countries, which will take overall relations one step further.
Field welcomed the agreement, which will enable the strengthening of trade between BiH and Great Britain, the Ministry of Communications and Transport announced.
“This will provide unrestricted direct and indirect access to international commercial transport of goods in both directions for businesses established in both countries. This is good news for commercial cooperation between the UK and BiH,” the British Ambassador stressed.
The signing of this agreement replaces the Agreement on the International Carriage of Goods by Road between the Government of Great Britain and the Government of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which was signed on 3 February 1969 in London.
