Ahmet Kemal Baysak, Honorary Consul General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Turkey and Honorary Ambassador of the World Federation of the Diaspora of Bosnia and Herzegovina, passed away last night in Izmir at the age of 88 due to the consequences of Covid-19.
He was a businessman and held a number of important public positions. Baysak was originally from Herzegovina. His family migrated to Turkey after the Berlin Congress in 1878, and he was the fourth generation of the Grebo family.
He initiated numerous activities with the aim of helping Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he did so through the Bosnian Federation in Turkey, SSDBiH and many other associations that connected Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was declared an honorary citizen of Sarajevo, Bihać and Goražde.
We had the honor of hosting Mr. Ahmet Kemal Baysak at the Bosnian House in Birmingham.
This great loss of our dear Kemal Bey is a great blow and an irreparable loss for his family as well as for the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina and its diaspora.
May dear Allah grant him Paradise and eternal mercy!
