MEETING OF THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE REMEMBERING SREBRENICA HELD

The Remembering Srebrenica National Committee meeting was held online in the UK. Representatives from BH UK Network and eleven regional committees, the Chair of the Academic Board, who gave an overview of their fantastic work and achievements in 2020.

The previous year was different for many people around the world, and we had to learn and adapt to the new circumstances. The meeting discussed the cooperation between the Remembering Srebrenica organization and the BH UK Network, the historical online commemoration, and many other events that marked the Srebrenica Remembrance Days. The topic for the 26th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide commemoration and planned activities for this year were discussed.

Although it was disappointing that we were not able to mark the significant 25th anniversary as we had hoped, we can proudly say that the staff and volunteers of Sremrembering Srebrenica, together with the BH UK Network and government representatives, managed to organize in the year that is behind us more than 1700 different events, in which Great Britain leads the world. These numerous events, despite being held online, were attended by various figures from the world of politics, sports, art, each with one task, to work on raising awareness, on education, on building future peace, respect and tolerance among all people regardless of origin, nation, religion, gender and social status.
