In a festive and moving atmosphere, the Bosnian House in Birmingham hosted an iftar – a communal evening gathering during Ramadan that brought together representatives of the Bosnian diaspora, local authorities and the wider community. The event was yet another testament to the rich multicultural spirit and mutual respect that characterises this part of the United Kingdom.
A special honor was given to those present by the Chief Imam for the United Kingdom, Sedin ef. Sahman, who led the prayer and in his address reminded of the importance of Ramadan as a month of spirituality, solidarity and togetherness.
The audience was also addressed by distinguished guests from political and social life: the Mayor of Solihull expressed her support for the Bosnian community and praised its contribution to local society, while Dr. Waqar Azmi OBE stressed the importance of preserving identity and interfaith dialogue. Tahir Ali, a member of the British Parliament, stressed how proud he was to represent a community that cherishes the values of peace, tolerance and humanity.
Nicky Brennan also sent her words of support, praising the efforts of the organizers and emphasizing the importance of such events for building bridges between communities.
The Iftar in Bosanska House was more than a religious event – it was a symbol of togetherness, community strength and lasting friendship between peoples.
