Online course on the Srebrenica genocide to build stronger communities in the UK
Bosnia UK Network invites all interested parties to participate in the online course ‘Building Stronger Communities’, developed by De Montford University, Leicester, in partnership with Remembering Srebrenica UK.
During the program you will learn about the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina
consider the lessons we can learn to build stronger communities in the UK.
Program objectives:
1. To have greater awareness and understanding of the Bosnian genocide.
2. To have a greater awareness of how violence and genocide can enter societies.
3. Have a greater awareness of the impact of social networks in building a stronger community.
4. Implement a small action that contributes to building a stronger community and
to promise to commit to carrying out further social action.
Program start date: April 28, 2025
Program end date: June 6, 2025
Course completion ceremony: Monday, June 23, 2025
Total study hours: 15-20 hours.
The program will consist of six weeks of online materials and seminars. The online materials will include recorded lectures, podcasts, videos, blogs, and articles.
Each week contains required material that will require approximately 1.5 hours of work, plus assignments. Additional material for optional further study will also be available on the learning platform.
There will also be two live online seminars and a live online panel
interviews with survivors, activists and researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain and beyond.
Course completion:
All those who complete the program materials, seminars, actions and
reflections/evaluations will be awarded with a Course Completion Certificate from
De Montfort University and will become zRememberng Srebrenica UK community champions. A course completion ceremony will be held
on Monday 23 June at 5.30pm as part of the regional commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide at De Montfort University in Leicester.
