Staff, loyal volunteers of the organization “Remembering Srebrenica” and representatives of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian community in the United Kingdom gathered over the weekend to agree on a plan and program of work and activities for the coming year.
It was highlighted that preparations are underway for next year’s commemorations to mark the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. It was proudly mentioned that 1,100 commemorations were organized this year across the United Kingdom, and that even more commemorations are planned for next year. It was announced that a central commemoration would be held in the spacious hall of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, as a larger number of people are expected to attend next year’s commemorations. The position of staff, volunteers and representatives of the Bosnian community is clear that genocide must never be forgotten, and that the world should be vigilant and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
It was a productive meeting and the topic was discussed on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. Also, it is new that the Advisory Board of the organization “Remembering Srebrenica” has been established, which will consist of about 20 members from the Bosnian community in Great Britain. The role of this board is to provide advice, opinions and suggestions in order to improve the organization of these commemorations and for Bosnian citizens to participate in this way and support the persistent and dedicated work of the organization “Remembering Srebrenica” throughout the United Kingdom.
