PUBLIC CALL: 9TH KNS INTERNATIONAL LITERARY MEETINGS – 2020

August 6-8, 2020. / Sarajevo, BiH

The Cultural Association – “Nova svjetlost” (KNS) is organizing the international cultural event “9th KNS International Literary Meetings-2020” from August 4-8, 2020. The public call for submissions of unpublished poetic and prose works is open from March 1 to May 16, 2020.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE EVENT ARE:

– popularization of the written word;

– affirmation of the literary creativity of young writers;

– presentation of the literary creativity of the BiH diaspora;

– promotion of valuable and significant works and engagements in the field of culture, art and the written word;

– regional literary cooperation;

– international cultural cooperation.

The organizer of the event “9th KNS International Literary Meeting” announces:

PUBLIC INVITATION

for submitting works and participating in the event program

Application requirements:

I) GENERAL CONDITIONS:

A) Author’s work/works (poems and short stories)

1. that the work is a work of authorship;

2. that the work has not been publicly published in any form – printed or virtual;

3. that the text does not contain vulgarisms;

4. that the text is not offensive;

5. that the work meets basic aesthetic and artistic standards.

B) Number and scope of works:

a) poetry: maximum two poems / scope: no limit;

b) story: a maximum of two stories / volume: up to three pages of “A4” format, up to 2,000 words;

Note: one author can apply with a maximum of two works, namely:

1) two songs

2) two stories.

3) one song and one story

C) Author information:

Along with the works, the author provides the following information:

1. first and last name

2nd year of birth

3. city and country of residence

3. contact phone number

4. short biography

5. commemorative photo (optional).

II) CATEGORIES

A) locality

1. Literature of Bosnia and Herzegovina

2. literature of the Bosnian diaspora

3. international literature

B) age

1. young authors: that they have reached the age of 17;

2nd free category

C) place of residence

1. Literature of Bosnia and Herzegovina:

– that the author of the text is from Bosnia and Herzegovina;

– that the text is written in one of the languages ​​spoken in BiH.

2. Literature from the diaspora:

– that the author of the text is originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina;

– that the text is written in one of the languages ​​spoken in BiH.

3. International literature:

– that the text has been translated into one of the languages ​​spoken in BiH.

D) expressive forms

– poetry (song, poem);

– prose (stories);

III) DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF WORKS

The public call is open until May 16, 2020. year.

IV) SELECTION OF WORKS FOR THE JOINT COLLECTION “SEBILJSKA RIJEČ”

– The selection of submitted poetic and prose works for inclusion in the joint collection will be made by selectors, whose names will be published with the results of the public call.

– Works by authors who do not meet the requirements of the public call will not be considered.

– Selected works will receive letters of thanks; recognition; recording of audio and video clips; inclusion in the traditional joint collection and program of the event.

– For the most successful song and story, the recognition “KNS PERO” is awarded

-The collection is printed in Bosnian.

– The promotion of the collection is planned as part of the Central Event, on August 8, 2020.

– The results of the election will be published on the website of the event organizer (www.kns.ba) by June 1, 2020.

V) AWARDING OF “KNS PERO” AWARDS FOR THE CATEGORIES:

1) The most successful song – (according to this competition)

2) The most successful story – (according to this competition)

3) Young author(s) – according to the competition “First Book”

4) Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature – for contribution to Bosnian literature

5) Bosnian and Herzegovinian literary diaspora – writers originally from BiH

6) International cultural cooperation

Note:

a) Proposals from writers under points 4 and 5; and from international cultural activists under point 6 may be submitted by individuals and organizations, from the country and abroad (with a translation into one of the languages ​​of this area), with an explanation during the public call to the specified e-mail address. The final decision is made by the organizer of the event according to the specified terms of the public call.

b) Depending on the circumstances and possibilities, the organizer reserves the right to change, expand or cancel the award without giving any explanation to the applicants.

VI) GENERAL NOTES

– Send texts in Word format – *doc or *docx.
– Send all the stories in one file, which you should title with the name of the author (not the titles of the stories).
– Type the letters č, ć, dž, š, đ and ž. – The organizer is not responsible in the event of copyright abuse of short stories and short poems submitted to the competition by participants or third parties.

– By participating in the competition, all participants agree to the terms and conditions of the competition.

– The organizer does not undertake to publish all submitted works on its portal.
– Due to unforeseen circumstances, the organizer reserves the right to change the program or postpone the event without additional explanation to the applicants.
