Dear Bosnians and Herzegovinans,
BH UK Network, the umbrella organization of Bosnian associations in the UK, is deeply concerned about the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but and throughout the Balkans. The situation is getting worse and we think it’s time to show our concern and responsibility.
Speculation about the possibility of new armed conflicts in BiH has intensified in recent months, after the BiH entity Republika Srpska (RS) announced the unconstitutional return of state jurisdiction. Milorad Dodik, member of the Presidency of BiH and leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), announced that he plans to withdraw consent to agreements on the Armed Forces of BiH, and to declare null and void the laws on the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the Indirect Taxation Administration (ITA), the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), and the Intelligence and Security Agency (IBSA) of BiH.
Since the end of July, representatives from the RS have been boycotting the work of state institutions due to the Decision on Amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH, imposed by former High Representative Valentin Inzko, which prohibits the denial of genocide and other war crimes.
We believe that this situation does not leave any BiH citizen in the UK indifferent.
We would like to ask you, dear friends, to write to your local MPs to raise awareness of We invite you to get involved in this important issue in this way and use your current positions to encourage the UK government to help resolve this critical situation.
