Her husband Dževad Šabanagić singled out Beba Selimović as the guardian of Sevdalinka, whom she loved the most, devoted her life and career to.
“In the most honorable way, she enriched and preserved our intangible treasure, which is sevdalinka. As a citizen, I say that her departure is a great loss to our cultural scene,” he emphasized for Fena.
Bebe Selimović’s family will announce the details of the commemorative gathering and burial at a later date.
Beba Selimović started her singing career at Radio Sarajevo, and soon became popular. Many called her “The Lady of Sevdah”, because of her serious and honorable attitude towards the profession, as well as because of her serious behavior on stage.
She dedicated her career to the original sevdalinka, maintaining its originality. She made a significant number of archival recordings of sevdalinka for Radio Sarajevo. She has received many awards and certificates for her musical success and assistance in humanitarian concerts.
