Delegates from the Bosnia UK Network had the opportunity to attend a forum at the Balsall Heath Church Centre in late October, which brought together delegates from local charities across Birmingham. The purpose of the forum was to connect their network leaders with civil servants from the Department for Local Communities to discuss current issues and their impact on local charities.
The forum was hosted by the charity Near Neighbours, which, in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Communities and Local Government, organised a programme for local community delegates from Birmingham. Pasha Shah, a civil servant with the Department, engaged with delegates to capture suggestions and views on how current issues and concerns are impacting the work and activities of local charities. The current topics discussed included:
– International political events
– Exiting the European Union
– Education and community
– Trust in leadership
