The East Midlands Regional Committee of Remembering Srebrenica held a moving commemoration to mark the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide at De Montfort University-Leicester, attended by over 100 participants from across the UK. Lester De Montfort Univerzitet
The event was hosted by Paul Allen, and one of the most emotional moments was the live conversation (In Conversation) with genocide survivors Šemsa Mekić and Jasmin Dajić, moderated by John Coster. Survivors shared their personal testimonies and deep thoughts about the war in Bosnia and its consequences. Uru%C4%8Divanje Certifikata U%C4%8Desnicima Programa Building Stronger Communities

Attendees also had the opportunity to:
• View an art exhibition of works by Lejla Kevrić and Robert Mcneil MBE
• Explore the Bosnian Genocide Virtual Room, developed by Dr. Kim Sadique
• Attend a traditional demonstration of Bosnian coffee preparation with Ferid KevrićUmjetni%C4%8Dka Izlo%C5%BEba 2
• Hear an emotional rendition of the song Što Te Nema by the president of the East Midlands Regional Committee
As a thoughtful gesture, guests received a gift of Turkish delight or traditional Bosnian cakes, with a message to share the gift, along with the message of the event, with someone over coffee.
My sincere thanks to Dr Kim Sadique and the East Midlands Regional Committee for organising such a powerful and meaningful commemoration.
