The Embassy of BiH in the United Kingdom, in cooperation with the BH UK Network, organized a reception for the diplomatic corps at the embassy premises in London.
The reception was attended by representatives of numerous embassies in the UK, members of the British Parliament, representatives of the Bosnian community in the UK and many other distinguished guests.
Those present were addressed by H.E. Vanja FIlipović , Ambassador of BiH to the United Kingdom, Alicia Kearns MP , Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the British Parliament, and Zaim Pašić , President of the BH UK Network.
The importance of this significant date for our homeland was highlighted. Exactly three decades have passed since the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina said the historic “YES” in the referendum held on February 29 and March 1, 1992. That “YES” opened the door to freedom and independence that generations had dreamed of, with faith in a better, shared future in an era of democracy. Now, 30 years after the disastrous “YES” and the bloody aggression and war that followed, Bosnia and Herzegovina is still in a difficult political crisis.
Special guests of the artistic program were Dženana Huseinagić and Dženana Šehanović Sarajlić . The musical performance “Sevdah and Classics – a Blend of Tradition and Art” by Dženana Šehanović Sarajlić, master of piano, and prof. dr. Dženana Huseinagić, soprano, implies a rounded whole permeated with some of the most beautiful works of the Balkan musical heritage with a distinctive and rich musical lyrical repertoire. The emphasis would certainly be on sevdalinka, whose origins are in Bosnia and Herzegovina and which have given an authentic stamp to Bosnian-Herzegovinian music, but this time they would be performed in a classical arrangement, which gives them a new dimension and artistic value.
The atmosphere was extremely pleasant and pleasant, where those present could enjoy the music of beautiful artists and remember the importance of the historical jubilee, 30 years of independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
