Back in 1994, the first refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Program 1000 + Program 500) touched the soil of Great Britain, former inmates of concentration camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina and their families, where they joined others who came in other ways and who found salvation and refuge here. Although tortured, wounded, many families without their loved ones who were martyred and were victims of concentration camps, mass rape and ethnic cleansing and extermination, they found the strength and started the first schools for their children in our language, all over Britain, Dewsbury, Birmingham, London, Derby and so on. The teachers in the schools were volunteers, former education workers, some of whom themselves had also been through camps, torture and ethnic cleansing.
We are pleased to be organizing this year’s 21st Meeting of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Schools in the UK, on behalf of the BH UK Network.
We hereby invite you to join us on that day, and make your event and ours bigger. It doesn’t matter whether you have children of school age or not, and whether your children attend classes, it is important that you come to socialize, to see your neighbors, to meet former acquaintances and friends and to get to know
new.
And so, just come! Welcome!
