The Commission for the Preparation of the City of Mostar’s Candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2024 invites all artists originally from Mostar who are actively working in the European space to contact it in order to establish cooperation within the “Mostar in a Suitcase” program line.
The project began in 2017, and below is all the information about it, arranged chronologically.
By the Decision of the Mayor of Mostar No. 02-42-13501/17 on the candidacy of the City of Mostar for the European Capital of Culture 2024 (ECC Mostar 2024); the City of Mostar, its institutions, the non-governmental sector and citizens, through their engagement in the project in 2017 and 2018; launched multi-layered mechanisms in the fields of culture, economy, communication, tourism, architecture, etc.
These positive processes were finally recognized in Brussels, as one of the great recognitions of Mostar on the international level.
The European Commission (Brussels – Panel of Experts) announced in November 2018 that Mostar, as a candidate for the European Capital of Culture 2024, had successfully passed the pre-selection phase and reached the final round of deciding on this prestigious title, which will be awarded to a city outside the EU in the fall of 2019.
The artistic concept of the candidacy is based on four main program lines that aim to connect Mostar from within – Urban Synapse, Mostar with Herzegovina and Europe – Lights of Herzegovina, the City with its diaspora – Mostar in a Suitcase and to determine a common future – Quantum Leap!
For the successful implementation of the Mostar in a Suitcase program line, it is necessary, among other things, to establish cooperation with artists originally from Mostar who are actively working in the European space and to precisely define a program with them that would (according to the domain of art they are involved in) enter the Mostar in a Suitcase Program Line and thus become the official program of this Project.
We ask all those who are able to send us your information about artists from Mostar and possible contact with them so that we can continue the work on the realization.
We ask artists originally from Mostar, who live in the diaspora, to answer us whether you are willing to participate in this Project and, according to your affinities and activities, suggest a program that could be implemented.
