The Bosnian-Herzegovinian folklore group “Mladost Bosne” under the watchful eye of their instructor Fahira Hasedžić had the honor of representing the Bosnian community in Birmingham with their folklore performance in front of an audience in Cannon Hill Park as part of the week marking World Refugee Day.
Refugee Week is held annually around the world around World Refugee Day on June 20. In the UK, Refugee Week is a national programme of arts, cultural and educational events that celebrates the contribution of refugees to the UK and encourages better understanding between ethnic communities.

The performance of the folklore group “Mladost Bosne” impressed not only the parents, but also everyone present. Their remarkable performance was rewarded with great applause. In addition to our little representatives, the performances were also performed by The Congolese Youth Music Group, MMM (Multi-Cultural Music Making) Group, Khalifa Conte – a professional drummer from Senegal, Nicky Reed, Ian Parmel and many more who presented their ethnic communities with their artistic performances.
Refugee Week is now one of the leading national initiatives to combat this negative climate, championing the importance of detainees and the benefits they can bring to both refugees and households.
Dear children, Bosnians and Herzegovinans, Thank you for presenting us with pride and a smile. Thank you, our wonderful instructor Fahira Hasedžić and your parents who decided to spend a free Sunday afternoon in Cannon Hill Park and brighten the face of the Bosnian community from Birmingham.
