Notice from the Dutch Commission for Compensation for Damages to Potočari

Dear Sir/Madam,

On 23 June 2021, I informed you about the start of work of the Netherlands Commission for Compensation in Potočari (NCCP). The NCCP is responsible for the implementation of the Srebrenica Civil Law Regulation. This regulation provides relatives of the male refugees who were killed in the UN base in Potočari on the afternoon of 13 July 1995 with the opportunity to submit a claim for compensation to the Dutch state.

NCCP hereby informs you of the closure of its ‘counter’. As of June 15, 2023, NCCP will no longer process new claims for compensation. Claims received by NCCP before June 15, 2023 will be processed according to the procedure. The offices in Sarajevo and The Hague will remain open to consider claims and answer questions about claims submitted before June 15, 2023. I would be grateful if you could inform the Bosnian community in your country about this.

Almost two years after its inception, the NCCP has received more than 7,000 applications. These claims relate to more than 2,500 victims. Requests come from relatives from Bosnia and from relatives living in the diaspora. The figures show that, among others, with the support of the embassies, we managed to reach as many relatives as possible.

I want to thank you for your cooperation. With kind regards, Screenshot 2021 06 24 At 09.09.04 1200x717

Mr. SFM (Sylvia) Wortmann
Chairperson of the Potočari Damage Compensation Commission
