Via Skype, Anes Cerić, representative of BH UK NETWORK, today, on the initiative of the Department for Emigration of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, held a meeting with the representatives of the Department for Emigration, Kem Sarač and Ana Judi Galić.
Due to the situation caused by the corona virus pandemic, numerous emigration activities have been postponed, and it is also a fact that the Ministry worked under difficult conditions in the previous period. In that period, the Ministry launched several initiatives, the most important of which are to provide certain support to students from Bosnia and Herzegovina on regular studies abroad, and to enable emigrants who do not possess the citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina to enter the country.
BH UK Network has also postponed a number of activities and adapted its work to the new situation and in accordance with the instructions of the UK government. The Bosnian House is closed to parties, assistance to the most vulnerable members of our community is provided by phone. A brochure about the coronavirus has been produced and distributed so that our citizens are as well informed as possible. For the first time in 22 years, the traditional meeting of Bosnian supplementary schools in the UK has been cancelled. Numerous commemorations that we planned in cooperation with Remembering Srebrenica for the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide have also been cancelled. Due to the pandemic caused by the COVID 19 virus, this year in the UK an online commemoration will be organized for the first time.
Representatives of the Emigration Sector also provided information about the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the coronavirus pandemic, about the possibilities of entering Bosnia and Herzegovina, the measures in force, and the like.
They also requested information about our people in the UK, as well as the activities of providing assistance to our people organized by the BH UK NETWORK in the UK. The work and cooperation with the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in London were praised. The problems faced by the diaspora due to the inability to come to Bosnia and Herzegovina were also discussed, such as the regulation of pensions in BiH and the problem of entry into BiH for citizens of BiH origin who currently do not have a passport of our homeland. Representatives of the Ministry called for such issues to be delegated, so that they could inform the diaspora about the same.
Mutual satisfaction was expressed on the occasion of the held meeting and it was agreed that in the coming period we will meet regularly in this way.
