Today, Bosanska House in Birmingham was visited by the newly appointed mayor of Birmingham, Ken Wood, and the mayor, Mrs. Wood.
In front of the West Midlands Remembrance Committee for Srebrenica, the event was attended by Councilor Martin Brooks.
The event was joined by Councilor Rashad Mahmood, who regularly holds meetings with the local population in Bosanska House.
DirectorBosnia UK Network Dr. Anes Cerić showed the guests the premises and presented the main directions of the organization’s work, our successes as well as current challenges.
The Lord Mayor emphasized the importance of community development in Birmingham and expressed his full support.
During the visit, preparations for Srebrenica Remembrance Day, which will be held on 11 July 2024 at Birmingham City Council, were also discussed. Mayor Wood expressed his pleasure at hosting this event at the City Council and stressed the importance of learning from the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina so that it never happens again to anyone, anywhere.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed hope for further productive cooperation between Bosnia UK Network and Birmingham City Council for the development of Bosnian, Syrian, Ukrainian and other communities in our new Bosnian House on Stratford Road.
