Zaim Pašić, Dr. Zdenka Besara and KUD Fahira Hasedžić received special awards at the reception at Bosanska House in Birmingham.
During a reception held on Tuesday in honor of the Minister of the United Kingdom Government, Lord Wajid Khan, who was on his first visit to the Bosnian House in Birmingham, the BH UK Network (Community of Bosnian Associations in the UK), in partnership with Remembering Srebrenica UK and the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the United Kingdom, also presented special recognitions for their work.
Recognition for the long-term development and activities of the Bosnian and Herzegovina community on the island, the wider Bosnian diaspora, but also for helping refugees from other countries, went to Zaim Pašić, Dr Zdenka Besara and KUD Fahira Hasedžić. They were presented with letters of appreciation by Minister Lord Wajid Khan and His Excellency, Osman Topčagić, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Kingdom.
Zaim Pasic
He arrived in Great Britain in 1993 for treatment as a wounded member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Upon arrival, he became involved in organizing the Bosnian community in the diaspora. He is a long-time activist of the BH UK Network and its president. He is one of the founders and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bosnian Advisory Center in London. A doctor – pediatrician from Sarajevo with an address in Coventry since August 1993. She arrived in the United Kingdom from besieged Sarajevo with a sick sister in a medical evacuation. For the past 30 years she has been helping the BiH community in the United Kingdom, especially in health issues. She is a member of the initiative committee that founded the World Federation of the BiH Diaspora, and a long-time active member of the BiH community in Coventry and the BH UK Network. The Cultural Art Society of Fahira Hasedžić has existed for more than two decades and represents BiH. culture in the most beautiful light throughout the United Kingdom and beyond. When they perform on the island, they represent BiH, and outside the United Kingdom, they represent both BiH and the United Kingdom. KUD continues to work on the foundations built by Fahira Hasedžić, who passed away this year, a choreographer who until her death taught members of KUD who are now passing that knowledge on to new generations.
