A Folklore Festival was held in Italy, with the participation of 8 folklore groups from Great Britain, Denmark, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We still recount stories and organize impressions, but happiness prevails in the sea of stories and feelings, according to the participants.
Although we set off in the early hours of the morning, just after midnight, the children smiled excitedly and imagined what was waiting for us in this folklore adventure. The little ones imagined mountains of Italian ice cream, while the slightly older ones admitted that they were most looking forward to meeting their peers from other folkloric groups.
The Bosnian-Herzegovinian association Ljiljan, the hosts of this beautiful event, warmly welcomed us at the Bergamo airport, and with a cordial conversation, the one-hour drive to the small town of Boario Terme, where we were staying, passed in a flash.
We were delighted with the landscape of Boario Terme, which immediately reminds us of our Herzegovina with its mountains, emerald river, vineyards and climate.
The “Ljiljan” association had already announced a party for us for the welcome party and they did not disappoint! The gathering was phenomenal with our music and cakes. It was wonderful to watch our folk dancers socializing and dancing to Bosnian music.
Our hosts made an effort to make us feel really comfortable, they were always ready to help and be at hand.
On Saturday, the day of the meeting, we had a trip to the town of Lovere. Our great compatriots from Zavidovići gave us seats in their bus, entertained us with a song and a masterful harmonica performance.
Lovere welcomed us bathed in the sun, embraced by the shores of Lake Iseo and gave us the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of Italy. The children got the desired mountain of ice cream, and the adults got the opportunity to rest with a leisurely walk along the coast.
In the afternoon, all folklore groups visited the “Cvijet Srebrenica” memorial park and paid their respects by laying flowers on the monument erected by our hosts, the “Ljiljan” association.
The main event of the “Italian Folklore Festival” began with the presentation of all the folklore societies that participated in the event.
This was followed by a show of beautiful traditional cars, all the participants were phenomenal and delighted us with their performances. We often shed a tear of joy at the rush of pride and happiness watching our wonderful Bosnian youth who came from all over Europe to participate.
KUD “Fahira Hasedžić” had the youngest participants and choreographers, therefore we are even more proud of them and their outstanding performance! We wish them to continue their excellent work in the future, according to the participants.
